Ham, Sausage, Spinach, and Cheese Breakfast Strata

We had people over for Riggins' first birthday, and I thought a breakfast strata would be the perfect thing. We eat something like this every Christmas morning, so this is definitely a dish for me that has a lot of feelings with it. It came out so delicious, and everyone got seconds!

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb sweet Italian sausage
  • 8 eggs, beaten
  • 10 c. cubed, day-old bread
  • 3 c. whole milk
  • 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/2 c.  cubed Black Forest ham
  • 1 package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained, 10 oz
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp butter, melted
  • 2 tsp dried basil
Directions:
  1. Grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Remove casings from sausage, and then cook and stir until everything is completely browned (about 10 minutes). Place in bottom of dish

  3. Mix eggs, bread, milk, cheese, ham, spinach, flour, mustard, salt, butter, and basil together in a large bowl
  4. Pour over sausage and top with more cheese if you like
  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight
  6. In the morning, heat the oven to 350 degrees
  7. Bake for about 65 minutes
Enjoy!
