Browned Butter and Cinnamon Spice Rice Krispies Treats

I am so obsessed with browning butter right now. The smell is amazing and the taste is even better. This was such a good treat that completely escalated the taste of a typical Rice Krispies treat. You have to try this right now. Seriously. Go to the store now, get in your kitchen, and whip this up. Fall in a dessert :)

Ingredients:
  • 7 c. Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1- 10 ounce bag (about 5 cups) mini marshmallows
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
Directions:
  1. Spray a brownie pan with cooking spray
  2. Measure out cereal in a bowl

  3. Measure out marshmallows in another bowl
  4. Melt butter in a small pot over medium. Keep stirring until butter starts to brown and smell nutty (you might think to yourself, "This is never going to happen." Keep stirring! I promise it will. Don't get impatient and turn up the heat)

  5. Immediately remove from heat as you don't want it to burn
  6. Pour butter over marshmallows
  7. Stir
  8. Put bowl in microwave for 30 seconds
  9. Stir
  10. Repeat #8 and #9 until all marshmallows are melted
  11. Put cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger together
  12. Add to marshmallow mixture and combine
  13. Add cereal to marshmallow and stir well (this will get hard! I buttered my hands and used my hands. Also it's nice to have a husband who helps :))
  14. Press cereal evenly into baking sheet and smooth top and corners with buttered hands
  15. Cool completely
  16. Cut into bars
Amazing!

Later on I coated these in chocolate and candy bits... even more amazing!

Enjoy!
