Obsessed with chocolate and peppermint right now. I thought it would be fun to sprinkle peppermint chunks inside of the brownies, but I didn't realize until later that the peppermint would actually melt into the batter! So when you eat the brownies, you taste peppermint, but it's not overpowering. Delicious!
Ingredients:
- Double fudge brownie mix
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. melted butter
- 1/3 c. water
- 20 mini peppermint candy canes
- Set oven to 350 degrees
- Mix the brownie batter together, using double the amount of melted butter instead of oil.
- Put the candy canes into a Ziploc bag and crush with a hammer
- Pour half of the candy cane bits into the brownie batter
- Spray a brownie pan with cooking spray
- Pour in brownie batter
- Top with half of the remaining candy cane bits (1/4 of the original)
- Bake according to directions, or until toothpick comes out clean
- When completely cooled, top with the rest of the candy cane bits
